Successfully the 1st ESG I Unplugged event, a series of monthly issues about critical issues of sustainability, happened on Wednesday, 16 November organized by Global Sustain for its members.
The “closed” event was about “Food Waste Management: Challenges & Opportunities” and took place at the multi-purpose space “Print Cafe” at PressiousArvanitidis.
Distinguished speakers from each spectrum of the food supply chain and more specifically: Alexia Macheras, Corporate Communication & Sustainability Manager at AB Vassilopoulos, Sofia Koutiani, Quality Assurance Manager of Hellenic Dairies S.A., Dimitris Papastergiou, currently Mayor of Trikala and President of the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece (KEDE), Alexander Theodoridis, Co-founder and Director of NGO “Boroume” (“We can”), Theano Baka, Head of Tourism Inspections and Certification Department of TÜV AUSTRIA HELLAS, Rania Assariotaki, Senior Manager for Sustainability at The American College of Greece were part of the roundtable event. The panel moderator was Dr. Athanasios Krystallis, Leisure and Associate Professor at The American College of Greece.
The participants came to the following main points as a conclusion: rationalization of consumption, business incentives, customer education, reinforcement of the role of local government administration in the circular economy, and giving back to society.
