We hope that you have already booked your holidays and this year you really hit the off switch to rest and come back stronger. It’s a great opportunity to press “off” not only for your emails and your professional life, but also for your personal life. How many, after all, are now on the beach reading a book or socializing? Social networks are clearly a reason that contributes to this alienation. But the main reason is not their existence, but the use and perception we have of them.
Research has proven that the use of social networks has increased to a total of 2.4 hours per day, while it is absolutely linked to mental illnesses,
such as depression, anxiety, increased stress and feeling lonely.
A study by the University of Bath in England proved that the “detoxification” or detox from Social Media for a week, had proven positive effects on the mental health of the 154 people who participated.
Another study, this time in Denmark, proved the same, in which people deleted Facebook from their mobile phones. The result of this was greater satisfaction and more positive feelings among the participants.
Of course, these effects are temporary, as one week has not been shown to have long-term effects in people who have a high level of involvement.
It is the deeper effort that is going to bring about the change we seek, with Social Media Detox as the first step. Personal experiences of people, including many public figures, prove that being away from social media for a longer period of time increases energy and psychological balance.
If you too decide to take a break from social media, there is definitely a vehicle to help you: the book! This magical form of communication, which has the ability to activate our every sense.
Our sight as we read it, our sense of smell as we can smell
the paper combined with the saltiness of the sea, our touch,
as we can touch it and our hearing since we hear the waves and turn
on the next page. What else can it trigger? Our imagination.
It can captivate us with its stories!
Whether it’s a book, a crossword, a magazine by the sea,
this year we urge you to devote yourself to quality activities
which are tangible, real and only make us…richer!
If August days don’t find you at the beach, we woud like to inform you that at PressiousArvanitidis, thanks to the very good planning of our vacations, we will operate normally throughout the month, just with a little limited productivity.
There will always be people to contact and assist you, for any request you may have.
We would, however, suggest that you schedule some jobs that you know you will need ahead of time, to avoid any delay.
Our company will not press the off switch on its machines but will continue to do what it knows best: printing your mind.
For those of you on vacation though, have fun and turn it off…
