More than 378,000 tonnes of unmanaged plastic waste reduced since 2019!

The Alliance to End Plastic Waste, an international alliance of companies and organisations working to address plastic waste, has released its 2025 Progress Report, documenting the results of its activities since its launch.

According to the report, since 2019 the Alliance has contributed to the reduction of 378,147 tonnes of unmanaged plastic waste, while enabling the recovery of a total of 418,529 tonnes of plastic waste. In 2025 alone, the figures reached 138,162 and 165,317 tonnes respectively.

At the same time, the Alliance has mobilised $641 million in funding commitments from third parties and investors since 2019, while $583 million of the mobilised funding has been allocated to activities aligned with its mission.

2025 marked the first year of implementation of the Strategy 2030, with the Alliance shifting its focus from smaller, standalone projects towards larger, integrated programmes. The so-called Country Programs focus on markets such as Brazil, India, Indonesia, South Africa and Saudi Arabia, with the aim of improving waste collection, sorting and recycling.

The Alliance is also placing greater emphasis on flexible plastics, an area where significant barriers to a circular economy remain. At the same time, it is using capital and expertise to reduce investment risk and attract new sources of funding. One notable example is the Plastic Circularity Strategy, which completed its final funding round in summer 2026.
